EXHIBITION · Something Missing? · Sophie Calle
In the exhibition entitled Something Missing? seven major series by Sophie Calle are presented including a selection of other works. Totalling more than 300 individual parts – photographs, texts and videos – the exhibition fills the museum’s West Wing.
Over five decades, Sophie Calle (b. 1953) has created a prodigious body of work about navigating the world. About being human. About interpersonal connections, the inner and outer worlds, fiction and fact. The exhibition features works spanning nearly 40 years, from 1986-2024.
Themes of love, longing, memory, beauty, absence and presence are central to the exhibition and to Calle’s art overall. Another recurring motif is the relationship between the visible and the invisible, sight and blindness, the development of internal images and visual memories. A central piece in the exhibition is The Blind (1986), an early key work acquired for the Louisiana’s collection
in 2024 and now on display for the first time at the museum.

WAS sørger for bevægelse i fællesskab.
kunstskole, i 2019.
With their exhibition, the artists Ida Elinor and Leïla Bélangeon Bouaziz, ensure that we relate consciously and inquisitively to our surroundings and ourselves. In a world of constant noise, panic and change, Ida Elinor insists on slowing down with her works and gives us a sensual space where we can stop and find peace.
The exhibition takes its starting point from Ida Ellinor’s investigation of what lies beneath the visible. With a persistent curiosity towards the earth, Ida Ellinor slowly moves into its layers. Not to explain, but to be in what already is. To feel what carries.
She invites the viewer to relate to existential questions such as: What does it mean to be down-to-earth? Finding peace in the shift between light and darkness? How do we create resonance without wanting to control ourselves and the other.
Ida Ellinor gives us space to stop. WAS provides movement together. Perhaps precisely two extremes that Copenhagen and we humans need to unite.
Ida Ellinor is a Danish visual artist and photographer. Her photography revolve around the tension between vulnerability and strength. She works with the oldest photographic techniques, including cyanotype and photogravure in a very intuitive and sensual imagery. Ida dares to trust the process and surrender to the final work. Most recently, she has had great success with her first and largest solo exhibition at Vandrehallen Kunsthal in the spring of 2025. She graduated from Fatamorgana, Denmark’s School of Photographic Art, in 2019.
Leïla Bélangeon Bouaziz, also known as Fatäk, is an artist whose practice unfolds in the field of tension between sound and silence, between structure and chaos. As a composer and producer, she works with sound as a form of architecture and explores cinematic forms where tension, texture and narrative unfold. Fatäk is today recognized on the Nordic experimental music scene for her immersive live performances, built around DIY synthesizers and improvisation.

Søren Solkær will give a guided tour of the exhibition, offering further insight into the works on display.
Since 1998, photographer he has been photographing artists backstage and on stage at the Roskilde Festival.
Over time, he has built up an extensive visual archive documenting the festival’s artistic inner workings, seen from the inside.
With unique backstage access at the Roskilde Festival, he has photographed more than 100 Danish and international artists before, during and after their concerts. From young, up-and-coming artists on the cusp of their first major performance to internationally established names such as Jack White, Mø, Dua Lipa and The Cure. What they all have in common is their trust in the photographer and their willingness to let the camera be present during the most vulnerable and intimate moments.
Stages provides access to the transitional zones where art has not yet become performance. Here, where concentration, nervousness, silence and rituals precede the transition from human to performer. From the private space to the collective gaze, the project offers a rare insight into the performing artist’s hidden psychology. In an age characterised by constant exposure, Stages offers an honest glimpse into the imperfect and often surprisingly unglamorous life lived behind the scenes, as a counterpoint to the glossy image of the stage we are usually presented with.

The exhibition is the result of several months of intensive research and work during which the students developed ideas and experimented with different processes before defining their final works for this particular exhibition.
The exhibition is important because it will show a group of young photographers of different nationalities studying at VERA Skole for Kunst & Design, one of the leading art schools in Scandinavia with a specialized line on Art Photography. Some of these students will surely become the next generation representing art photography in the near future.

Skolen har således eksisteret i over 35 år.
ABOUT
VERA has 65–80 students, most of them in their early 20s. Many are preparing to apply to creative and artistic programs such as art academies, design schools, and architecture schools.
The school provides space to work intensively with creative and artistic subjects for many hours every weekday.
A course at VERA is not a formal education, but the teaching is taken seriously. Most creative and artistic institutions recognize the school as a strong preparatory environment, and they know that VERA produces capable students. Over time, many former VERA students have been admitted to these programs.
The school has 900 square meters of bright facilities on Struenseegade in Nørrebro, close to public transport. It also runs its own exhibition space/gallery, Projektrum VERA, located at Åboulevarden 9C.
VERA is approved as a day folk high school by the Municipality of Copenhagen. The Culture and Leisure Administration provides funding per participant (from Copenhagen), which helps keep the participation fee at an affordable level.
The name “VERA” originates from the school’s beginnings in 1985 at Halmtorvet, in the same grassroots building as VEsterbro RAdio. The school has therefore existed for more than 35 years.

A new photo exhibition focuses on everyday life in East Greenland in the 1950s and 60s. Under the title “Daamani – Back in East Greenland”, 80 photographs taken by Arkaluk Bianco in Tasiilaq and the surrounding settlements are presented. Arkaluk Bianco (1921-1986) was a store manager and postmaster – but also a pioneer and a distinctive personality in the local community. He was out with the camera early and had a special eye for his time. In addition to photographing family and events, he documented people in the city, working life, new buildings and the traces of a changing culture.
The exhibition provides a rare insight into a period that is often mentioned, but has only been documented visually to a limited extent. This is the time just before and during the Danish modernization in earnest – a time of upheaval characterized by development and major social changes. Bianco’s photographs show a society with pride, a desire to act and an identity in motion. The images have great cultural-historical significance. The fact that they were taken by a local Greenlandic photographer – and not an outsider – makes them very special. They fill a void in the collective consciousness of East Greenland’s recent history and give a face to a generation whose lives and everyday lives have rarely been documented. For many in East Greenland, these are parents, grandparents and family members who may never have been seen in a photograph before. Most of the people portrayed are identified by name.
All the photographs are included in the book Daily Life in Ammassalik, published in the fall of 2024 by Aarhus University Press (Greenlandic edition: Ammassalimmi inuuner nalinginnaasoq). The exhibition has been created in collaboration between Nauja Bianco and Helene Brochmann.
