This year, we’ve received 217 applications for Photo City from more than 40 different countries. This is a doubling of the numbers from last years applicants. Copenhagen Photo Festival’s open call for Photo City is all about giving upcoming talents a voice and a place on the Danish and international photography scene.
For the first time ever, we will announce all of our shortlisted photographers. As of today, Monday February 11th, we will begin announcing our Photo City Shortlist on our social media platforms. Today we are presenting our first photographer: Thomas Nielsen, who depicts Danish alcohol culture. Follow us on Instagram to learn more about who is shortlisted for a solo-exhibition at this years Photo City.
We look forward to announcing the final names for our open call, and the three headliners, later this spring. Once again we’d like to say thank you for the immense interest there has been surrounding the open call to this year’s Photo City.

CALLING ALL VENUES
If you want to take part in Copenhagen Photo Festival this year, you can now apply to be part of our satellite exhibitions. Satellite Exhibitions are exhibitions outside of Photo City. It’s a category for independent photographers, artists, photo schools, institutions etc. who are planning a photo exhibition in an alternative exhibition space, such as a café, library, cultural center etc. Deadline is March 10th at 12am.
