Copenhagen Photo Festival is looking for volunteers

Volunteers are an important element to the success of Copenhagen Photo Festival and have been every year since its start. Our volunteers are in every corner of the festival during the 11 busy days to welcome guests, help with the logistics and be the ambassadors of the festival thanks to their enthusiasm.

If you like photography, events, busy days and enjoy meeting interesting teams of people from all over the world, then maybe Copenhagen Photo Festival is the place for you! If you want to be part of one of the largest international photo festivals, then join us on June 4-14 2020 in Copenhagen. 

We are a big, diverse and fun group of people who are working hard to create the best experience for both our guests and our exhibitors.

Depending on your wishes and experience, you can take on different types of tasks before and during the festival. There’s something here for everyone! 

You must be above 18 years old to be a volunteer. 


In exchange for your free time, you will receive a festival wristband that gives you access to all exhibitions in the festival centre, festival merchandise and a certificate of attendance. Moreover, we will network, gain organisational competencies and meet various people from the photography industry. We will take good care of you during the days of the festival and organise team building activities.

Volunteer Roles

Exhibition assistants

The heart of the festival is beating at Refshaleøn where the centre is the vibrant hub for all our programme activities, events and exhibitions. To create a great experience for our guests and participants and make all work well around the clock, we count on our outgoing exhibition assistants.

The team of exhibition assistants move around to guide the guests, keep an eye on the exhibitions, help the exhibitors and make sure that the place is in shape and ready every day to host our activities. If you are service-minded, you’re at ease with big crowds and like making things happen, this is a place for you.


We believe that good events create a good experience for both our guests and programme participants. We need your attitude and your smile to make our events happen during the 11 days of the festival.

The most important thing is to be service-minded and flexible. You will have to make sure that the event runs smoothly, the place is clean and tidy, and whatever help is needed at the moment. But you won’t be alone . and after that you will organize any social event like it’s a piece of cake.

Info Desk/Tickets Sales

We host and welcome a big number of international and local guests, exhibitors and programme participants, and we want them to feel welcomed, well-informed and ready for their experience at the festival centre, both indoors and outdoors. We run two info desks/ticket-sales-points, where a small and dedicated team of volunteers will be welcoming and guiding the audience, selling tickets and photo books.

It is your responsibility to inform the visitors about the festival and its exhibitions and guide them in the right direction. If you like having responsibility and you’re an outgoing and service-minded person, we’re looking for you. Good English skills are a must, since you’ll be dealing with our international guests. Speaking Danish is a big plus.

Production assistants

Our valuable production assistants are helping with all festival preparations in the festival centre. We need strong and reliable people who are not afraid of lifting or other physical tasks to help build up the festival center beforehand and take it down afterwards.

If you are interested in event/venue production and want to learn what’s needed to make an 11-day international festival, this is a shift for you.

Do you want to be a Super Volunteer?

As a Super Volunteer, you can take assignments that require more responsibilities and you will play a more important role in our team. We expect 30 hours of volunteering, before /during the festival.

You will get the chance to be an active part of the festival, gain more work experience, develop your skills and gain a recommendation letter (upon request) on the top of the other rewards.
