Four partners, four countries, four exhibitions. Reconstruction of Identities ended with a bang in Italy!

Since 2018, Copenhagen Photo Festival has been part of the Creative Europe co-funded project Reconstruction of Identities together with three other partners, all working within the field of photography and visual culture. The project reflected the cultural diversity among different countries in Europe and was finalized this fall through the last exhibition of four. Throughout the year each exhibition has been presented in each of the four partners’ respective countries: NOOR Foundation in the Netherlands, Copenhagen Photo Festival in Denmark, Ad Hoc Gestion Cultural in Spain and the Municipality of Savignano sul Rubicone – SIFEST in Italy.

Exhibition in Savignano sul Rubicone
The planning and the implementation of these exhibitions has not been without challenges. Corona has put a damper on countless events this year. We were therefore thrilled, when we – despite all of this – could visit Italy’s oldest photo festival SIFEST. Together with Marine Gastineau and Martin Thaulow, the two photographers representing Denmark in this cross-cultural collaboration, the festival went to Savignano sul Rubicone.

SIFEST presented their Reconstruction of Identities exhibition at the Consorzio di Bonifica, and the days that followed were packed with interesting talks with the participating photographers and partners, guided tours around the exhibition as well as portfolio reviews. Underneath you can see images from five evocative and warm September days in the north of Italy, where Maja Dyrehauge Gregersen, managing director of Copenhagen Photo Festival, Marine Gastineau and Martin Thaulow took part in SIFEST together with NOOR Foundation, the Municipality of Savignano sul Rubicone and Ad Hoc Gestional Cultural as well as the photographers Sanne De Wilde, Filippo Venturi and Katerina Buil.
