EXHIBITION · Marte Gundersen · Kjære Anna

Fotografisk Center Staldgade 16, København, Danmark

The year I turned 20, I learned a lot about myself. Both
that I fall in love with women, but also that I have
inherited a deadly cancer gene and needed to have a
double mastectomy. Being told that you are at risk of
dying at a young age affects not only yourself, but also those closest to you.
Through this documentary photo series, Iattempt to shed light on how this year has been for me and my girlfriend, Anna; how we have faced the challenges together and grown even closer.
Breast and ovarian cancer are among the most common cancers affecting women in Norway. tI is estimated that 5-10% of these cancers are due to heredity. For me, the most important therapy has been to photograph, write and talk about how everyday life is.
My girlfriend has been there to support me every single day.
So, this series is a love letter to her from me.

EXHIBITION · Group Exhibition · Our Neighbors

Turning Tables Kulturlab Kapellet Kapelvej 4, København

We need to be seen by others. Not our shiny surface. Our essence.

In the exhibition Our Neighbors local residents from the public housing association 3B Folehaven are stylistically portrayed, framed by patterned carpets and floral backgrounds, placed unnaturally, some with an object of their own choice. Just outside the frame, 3B Folehaven's iconic yellow bricks peek out, and what initially appeared to be a professional photo studio turns out to be a regular tripod balancing on a lawn in one of the housing association’s many courtyards. In this way, the exhibition plays with the contrast between the staged and the natural; the meeting between the curated I and the I we are at home.

EXHIBITION · Group exhibition · Capture Your City: New Beauty

Dansk Arkitektur Center Bryghuspladsen 10, 1473 København K, København, Danmark

Close-cut lawns with ‘Keep off the grass’ signs – that’s the ‘nature’ we usually find in our cities. But can we find beauty in weeds and the less planned greenery too? A tree shooting up where it wasn’t supposed to, or wildflowers blooming in a road verge.
We buy and throw out more than ever before – from our homes and in the building industry, where we tear down buildings and replace them with new ones. But if we want more bees in our back yards and less construction waste on the curb, shouldn’t we get used to seeing the world around us with new eyes too?

EXHIBITION · Boris Mikhailov · Ukrainian Diary

Det Kgl. Bibliotek Søren Kierkegaards Plads 1, København, Danmark

Concept art, hand-coloured photography, social documentary, performance and film. For more than half a century, Ukrainian Boris Mikhailov (b. 1938 in Kharkiv) – one of Eastern Europe's most influential and provocative contemporary photographers – has explored and criticized the Soviet system's grip on his country. By combining humour and tragedy, Mikhailov not only challenges the documentary form. He also challenges our perception of reality when, with his distinct artistic language, he creates touching stories about Soviet and post-Soviet history.
