MASTERCLASS · On Contemporary Portraiture · Antone Dolezal & Lara Shipley

I løbet af denne masterclass vil CPF Selectees 2026 kunstnerduoen Antone Dolezal og Lara Shipley lede deltagerne gennem en masterclass med fokus på moderne portrætfotografi, hvor der lægges vægt på instruktion af den portrætterede, opbygning/brug af omgivelser og udformning af stemningsskabende belysning.

De amerikanske kunstnere og fotografer Antone Dolezal (f. 1982) og Lara Shipley (f. 1980) arbejder som duo med fotografi, video, lyd og arkivmateriale for at udforske de kulturelle og politiske dynamikker i amerikansk historie, folklore og mytologi. Deres arbejde har været præsenteret i The New Yorker, Smithsonian Magazine, British Journal of Photography og LensCulture. Dolezal er i øjeblikket lektor i fotografi ved University of Nevada, Reno, og Shipley er adjunkt i fotografi ved Michigan State University. Værker af de to findes i offentlige samlinger, herunder Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, Tate Britain – The Martin Parr Collection, London, og Yale University, New Haven.

Denne masterclass afholdes i festivalens centrum i Det Kongelige Teaters historiske rammer på Kongens Nytorv.

During this masterclass participants will be guided by Antone and Lara through a workshop focused on contemporary portraiture with an emphasis on directing, constructing environments and the shaping of lighting to create mood. 

American artists and photographers Antone Dolezal (b. 1982) and Lara Shipley (b. 1980) work as a duo with photography, video, sound, and archival materials to explore the cultural and political dynamics of American history, folklore, and mythology. Their work has been featured in The New Yorker, Smithsonian Magazine, British Journal of Photography, and LensCulture. Dolezal is currently a Lecturer of Photography at the University of Nevada, Reno, and Shipley is an Assistant Professor of Photography at Michigan State University. Works by the two are held in public collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, Tate Britain – The Martin Parr Collation, London, and Yale University, New Haven.

This masterclass will be held at the main festival site, the historic landmark of the Royal Danish Theatre as part of the Copenhagen Photo Festival.
