Company visit to Nørrebro · Conversation with Elinor Infred

In connection with the photo exhibition The Local Business – Photos from Wong’s Takeaway to RC Dry Cleanersat the Copenhagen Museum (1. May – 20. October 2024), Elinor Infred Kjoler in Nørrebro invites visitors to a unique talk in her own dress shop. Come and hear Elinor talk about her exciting life as an actress and shopkeeper in Nørrebro during the Copenhagen Photofestival 2024 on June 7. at 16.00.

Elinor Infred is a bit of a local celebrity as well as the shop owner who have had a shop in Nørrebro for the longest periode of time. She started her dress shop in 1964 – just after she had played the leading part in the scandal-ridden erotic film Villa Vennely. Elinor, who is trained as a bookseller, walks from her home in Østerbro to the store every day to stay in shape. She is 90 years old and receives a pension, but still keeps the shop open every day of the week because she can’t live without it. In the 1960’s, there were as many as eight small clothing stores in the street. Today there are only a few left, just as the clientele has changed significantly. From being a traditional working-class neighbourhood, Nørrebro is now a multicultural area with a great diversity of residents.
