Guided Tour of the Exhibition: Jette Bang – Portrait of Qatar’s Bedouins

Join us when we embark on a journey with Jette Bang to the Bedouin’s Qatar. We invite you on a free special tour of the special exhibition: Jette Bang -Portrait of Qatar’s Bedouins in connection with the Copenhagen Photo Festival.

In the spring of 1959, Danish photographer Jette Bang traveled to Qatar to document the lives of the Bedouins. In collaboration with ethnographer Klaus Ferdinand, she created more than 1,200 photographs and the documentary film Bedouins (1962). A selection of these works is now on display. Bang’s photographs combine sharp ethnographic insight with a strong aesthetic sensibility, offering us a rare glimpse into an otherwise closed world.

With her background in the objective style of advertising photography and her exceptional ability to build trust, she captures both the intimacy and the beauty of everyday life in the desert. This is a unique opportunity to experience 1950s Qatar – seen through the lens of one of Denmark’s greatest photographers.

Tag på en rejse med Jette Bang til beduinernes Qatar, når Davids Samling i forbindelse med Copenhagen Photo festival inviterer til gratis omvisning i særudstillingen: Jette Bang – Portræt af beduinerne i Qatar.

I foråret 1959 rejste den danske fotograf Jette Bang til Qatar for at dokumentere beduinernes liv. I samarbejde med etnograf Klaus Ferdinand skabte hun over 1.200 fotografier og filmen Beduiner (1962). Du kan nu opleve et udvalg af disse. Bangs billeder forener skarp etnografisk indsigt med en stærk æstetisk sans, der giver os et sjældent blik ind i en ellers lukket verden.

Med sin baggrund i reklamefotografiets objektive stil og sin særlige evne til at opbygge tillid, indfanger hun både intimiteten og skønheden i ørkenens hverdag. Det er en unik mulighed for at opleve 1950’ernes Qatar – set gennem linsen på en af Danmarks største fotografer.
