Mafalda Rakoš Book’s launch

During our Photo Scene event, step into the realm of introspection and empathy through the book launch of Mafalda Rakoš.

In her book, a key role is the exploration of the human psyche and inner world. Stemming from her frustration with the limitations of photography in capturing the complexities of the inner world, Mafalda embarked on a deeply personal journey alongside four protagonists. Together, they navigated the tumultuous landscape of social isolation and non-substance addictions during the pandemic, seeking to unveil the invisible through the lens of art and storytelling. Through a blend of conversation, drawing, and portraiture, Mafalda attempted to make tangible the intangible her purpose, shedding light on the profound emotions of loneliness, confusion, and occasional serenity that permeated their experiences.

As their dialogue unfolded, profound questions emerged about the intertwined nature of artistic expression and therapeutic processes, sparking reflections on the broader societal implications of mental health within the confines of a capitalist framework.

During her presentation, the artist’s mother Anna Rakoš will join the scene. She is a psychotherapist and contributor to one of the texts in the book. They’ll explore together how this project could resemble a therapeutic process, and discuss the importance of keeping the roles of artist – therapist strictly linked between them.

Immediately following the talk, Mafalda will be available to sign books in her exhibition space, where there will be the opportunity to continue the conversation and celebrate her book launch.
