For the 13th edition, Copenhagen Photo Festival will celebrate photography with a particular focus on this year’s overarching theme, ‘rewilding’, and Copenhagen as UNESCO’s World Capital of Architecture in 2023 which is dedicated to the UN’s 17 sustainable development goals.
A unique exhibition park
We look forward to inviting the festival guests to visit this unique exhibition park situated in one of the urban wilderness spaces at Refshaløen – in the sweet spot between Copenhagen Contemporary, Reffen Street Food, Øens Have and Lille Bakery.
The overarching theme of rewilding for this year’s festival connects with the celebration of architecture, the sustainability theme and builds a bridge to our own exhibition park situated in the urban wilderness of Beddingen on Refshaleøen, which used to be an industrial shipyard building site.
The festival strives to break the established frames of photography and present the audience with both indoor and outdoor exhibitions in our venue FRAME and the surrounding exhibition park, Beddingen, and in a sustainable way engage with its surroundings as well as society, identity and visual culture. The exhibitions all challenge the ‘white cube’ mindset and expand the usual understanding of how we engage with photography – as art and documentary.
