Exhibition // Ulla Hauer - TRANSFORMATION

Gallery KUNST 86, Ryesgade 86, 2100 Copenhagen Ø

Artist’s statement by Ulla Hauer:
Photography is central to my work. The photographic image that one encounters on the Internet, in newspapers, and on television presupposes an objectivity that I would like to draw attention to. I do this digitally, by painting, printing, and transferring photographic images onto canvas, paper, and metal – and again processing them so that they clearly appear as subjective expressions.
With the camera in the mobile phone, I have gained a useful tool. - My iPhone allows me to work intuitively, impulsively,
and playfully. I work with several digital programs in the mobile phone, which lead to new and surprising photographic images.
Among an infinite number of images, I select a few that I choose to give a physical life.

I use Photoshop to a limited extent and prefer simple apps, such as Vector Q, a vector-based program that divides
photographs into surfaces, or the app "Image Blender", which mixes several different photos or parts of them. The works in Kunst 86 reflect nature and its organic structures. However, the exhibition's pictorial universe is broken up into new surfaces and lines that point towards a new world order.
