Exhibition // Erika Matsunami - SKIN
The exhibition sets out to re-landscape the photographic formula for skin, creating wild imagery where skin as a motif is recognisable and sensual, yet also invokes a sense of unease and wonder that questions what the body really is, what normality is, and whether you can rewild your own body? This notion of skin alienation guides the analogue photography and B/W slide projections of Berlin-based Japanese photo artist Erika Matsunami. Also featured in the gallery’s dark spaces is Danish-American photo artist Andreas Olesen’s rambling crossover between mechanical machine and mobile phone – an interactive "mechanical Instagram" where visitors using a mobile phone can scroll through image film loops that run through multiple re-engineered mechanical projectors.
