Open Call FUTURES 2024
What is FUTURES photography Platform?
Copenhagen Photo Festival is part of FUTURES Photography Platform, which has existed since 2018 and is supported by the EU culture programme Creative Europe. We are more than 20 member institutions from all over Europe within the photographic field. Among the members are prominent institutions like PhotoIreland, Triennial of Photography Hamburg, Der Greif, Void and many others. CPF has been part of the platform since 2021.

How does the Platform work?
Every year each member of the platform invites five new talents to become part of the platform. Right now more than 400 talents with various backgrounds and practices are part of the platform, but all with a relation to camera, photography or lens based art. The purpose of the platform is to strengthen lens based artists’ possibilities to get a career boost through a number of activities, e.g. promotion, individual portfolio reviews, network meetings and more.

Who selects the five Nordic talents?
Our Programme Committee will be selecting the five FUTURES talents 2024. The committee consists of highly qualified professionals, who have expertise within curation, publishing, and visual storytelling. By bringing together an array of perspectives we ensure that each applicant’s work is considered and selected in regards to aesthetic, conceptual and narrative aspects.

Søren Pagter, Head of Dep. of photojournalism, Danish School of Media and Journalism
Patricia Breinholm Bertram, Curator & Head of Communication at Martin Asbæk Gallery
Stinus Duch, Founder of DISKO BAY BOOK
Maja Dyrehauge Gregersen, Managing Director of Copenhagen Photo Festival
What does the Programme committee look at?
It is important for us that the gender balance is diverse and fair. On top of that we strive after presenting as many different genres and methodical approaches as possible within the five selected talents. We do not expect that the applicants have years of experience, but it is important that we can see a larger artistic or conceptual perspective in the project presented.
It is important that you as a talent are at a place in your career where the international exposure will make a difference to you. Therefore, we also naturally expect you to be motivated about being challenged – artistically and methodically – and that you intend to participate actively in the different FUTURES activities offered through the programme.
