Eyeopening Exhibitions at the Festival Center
From 2 to 12 June you can experience nine different solo and group exhibitions and a host of talks, events, workshops and social gatherings at our Festival Center on Refshaleøen. You can look forward to eyeopening and tactile art experiences that are far from the traditional museum or gallery experiences you might be used to. With a mix of immersive photography experiences in our venue FRAME, open-air exhibitions in the surrounding exhibition park, insightful talks, musical features and much more we want to invite you to 11 days dedicated to celebrating contemporary photography.
From Ukrainian War Photography to Chinese Contemporary Art
We are happy to present three solo exhibitions with the winners of this year’s open call, Hien Hoang, Alexandra Rose Howland and Krista Svalbonas. As something quite exceptionel we present two exhibitions from our Ukrainian sister festival Odesa Photo Days. A group exhibtion adressing the horrid situation in Ukraine right now called The Thin Line and Olena Morozova’s Granny.
In addition we also present several group shows with young and upcoming talents: three gifted photographers from DMJX – the Danish school of Media and Journalism exhibits their work for the first time. We are also proud to present an exhibition of works by the five selected Futures Nordic Talents, a group show of female photographers entitled A Female Gaze and lastly – but not least – a beautiful presentation of the Chinese photographers Luo Yang and Lin zhipeng curated by TOFU Collective. You can find full programme for the Festival Center below – it is still being updated.
Centered in The Sweet Spot on Refshaleøen
The Festival Center is located in the midst of a 10,000 m2 urban wilderness at the artificial island Refshaleøen – in the sweet spot between Copenhagen Contemporary, Reffens Street Food, Lille Bakery, Øens Have, Restaurant Alchemist and many other innovative and creative businesses residing in the post-industrial buildings on Refshaleøen.

FRAME
FRAME is our permanent container construction which offers a two-story indoor exhibition space combined with a Rooftop Terrasse giving you the perfect view of the exhibition park and the post-industrial area. Visit the café or enjoy our French inspired after-hours festive event L’Apéro with drinks and DJ performances, or dive into exhibitions such as this year’s three solo artists exhibiting under our focal points: Framing Identity, Framing Society and Framing Vision.
SPACE FRAME
We put great emphasis on architectural and spatial experiences, and our outdoor architectural construction SPACE FRAME provides a unique exhibition encounter. This year the Copenhagen based creative studio Tofu Collective provides insights into Chinese art and culture at SPACE FRAME.
