In Thiemers Magasin you can experience Copenhagen Photo every day during the festival period, photographers and the public meet in Thiemers Magasin for Happy Hour at 17-18.
We serve drinks (two for one!), the city’s second best coffee, cool rosé, Thiemer’s summer spritz and beer brewed by irrepressible beer farmers from Herslev, while selected photographers talk informally and without a microphone about the work on their current books and projects.
On Saturday 3 June, Yana Wernicke will stop by and talk about her photo book ‘Companions’.
As part of the Copenhagen Photo Festival, Yana Wernicke is invited to Copenhagen with an exhibition at Harbo Bar. Here at Thiemers Magasin, she presents the book Companions, her latest printed matter, which is a portrait of two young women who have established a deep relationship with animals and where ideas about species loneliness and relationships between species are explored. Yana’s images offer a perspective and documentation of the situations that create a longing and a revelation. Instead of presenting familiar cuteness or horror, she leaves room for a poetic, possible reality.
The project was published as a photo book here in the spring of 2023 by the publisher Loose Joints.
Of previous book projects, you will be able to see and have a chat with Yana Wernicke about the award-winning photo book Zenker from 2021, which she made in collaboration with Jonas Feige. You will also be able to explore other books from the publisher Loose Joints, which are exhibited in Thiemers Magasin.
Yana Wernicke (b. 1990) is a German photographer. Her work often revolves around the photographic depiction of animals and humanity’s relationship with nature and other beings.
