Art tour // 13:30 – 14:00
Who are Arctic Creatures, what do they do in the Icelandic nature and what are their works about? Join us for a guided tour of their exhibition.
Arctic Creatures is a collective of three Icelandic artists: visual artist Hrafnkell Sigurdsson, filmmaker and director Óskar Jónasson and actor/theatre director Stefán Jónsson. Over a number of years (2012-22), they have worked together on photographic works set in the Icelandic wilderness.
The artists themselves play the main characters in scenes that are equal parts comic and tragic, choreographed and staged using material, both litter and seaweed, found on site. Dressed in minimal clothing, they fearlessly embody mythological creatures or playfully reference iconic works of art history. It’s gifted, theatrical and hysterical, and at the same time a climate-conscious salute to the fact that human beings are constantly being overtaken by their own imaginations and their own filth. This is the first time the group is exhibiting in Denmark. Óskar Jónasson and Stefán Jónsson will show you around the exhibition and answer questions.
