Talk: Ira Lupu, On Dreams and Screens (2020)

6. June @ 16:00 - 17:00

Join our Solo Artist Ira Lupu in a talk about her project On Screens and Dreams. The project explores nuanced portraits of an Eastern European cam girl, and celebrates her beyond any fantasies or cliches.

Joining Ira Lupu is Bridgett Magyar and Anya Kiyanitsa.

BRIDGETT MAGYAR (NYC/Milwaukee, USA).

“On Dreams and Screens” muse, protagonist, and author of the text “Cam girls run the world” that can be found on one of the exhibition walls.

Cam girl, sex workers’ rights activist, video artist. Bridgett has a BFA in Filmmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute. Her conceptual video pieces explore the inherently bizarre performative elements of being a Cam Girl by filming herself through her actual webcam, iPhone, and other readily available mediums.

ANNA (ANYA) KIYANITSA (Kyiv, Ukraine)

“On Dreams and Screens” protagonist. Ex-cam girl. Currently works as a public programme project manager for Ukraine’s top queer club (no-name, located on 41 Kyrylivska Street in Kyiv).

Also I finally got the understanding that I’m hot and beautiful female and even though it’s weird to fight against patriarchy and then just go and improve your own self esteem through men’s perception, it somehow weirdly worked for me.

“At some point of my life I started to wonder what I look like to other people in a sexual and regular way since my perception of my body and personality were completely distorted.

Camming became one of the ways to change self perception and to explore sexuality: my own and in general.” Anya Kiyanitsa

Her exhibition On Dreams and Screens is built like a home, with a living room, TV, makeup closet, sofa and a French balcony with a view over the Bedding. In here, you get to experience the privacy of the girl’s lives, behind the webcams. Interviews with the girls will also be playing on the television, so that you get a fingertip feel of what a day in the life of these people is like.

The festival centre and CPF has generously been supported by Københavns Kommune, Det Obelske Familiefond og Aage og Johanne Louis-Hansens Fond.

Due to corona restrictions, some artists won’t be able to attend the Festival. The CPF Team is currently working on the talks format. Stay tuned for more information.
