In Human Possession by Lotte Agger – at Eks-Rummet

4. June 2021 @ 9:00 - 13. June 2021 @ 17:00

The exhibition presents Lotte Agger’s photographic portraits of domesticated plants, which are at the same time existential images of man’s relationship to nature.

All organisms exist in their own right. The anthropocene climate crisis is at the same time a natural crisis and an existential crisis for humanity. The idea that humans should be something special or something other than nature, that is, separate from nature, makes it easy to overlook the other creatures, and then it is easy to do harm. In human possession and as a subject to human power, the plants have cramped conditions. The exhibition makes the plant visible as individuals in an aesthetic expression that borrows principles and structures from nature itself, gives the plant a life story and pays respect to its life and death. It is about giving the plant’s individuality an aesthetic expression, which at the same time asks existential questions to the viewer. It is about empathy.

The exhibition shows photographic works where Individual plants are portrayed. The photographs have been processed and printed in oversize, cut up and rebuilt in a new order, and mounted on wooden structures in three dimensions. The works spread over the walls from floor to ceiling in EKS-RUMMET, grow into the space and reach out towards the audience with a tactile, but at the same time abstract and wild aesthetic.

The visuals is primarily from Lotte Agger’s previous exhibitions, including “Vækster” in Tjörnadala Kunsthall Sweden, 2020 and “Forskydninger” in Galerie PI, Copenhagen, 2020, where Lotte Agger collaborates with ceramicist Marianne Nilsen. The exhibition in EKS-RUMMET is under preparation.
