MondayTalk x Copenhagen Photo Festival
10. June 20:00 - 22:00
How does the photograph work as a medium in debates about society? How can you work with societal problems seen through artistic and aesthetic eyes, and why is it even important to do this?
The ticket for this event costs 50DKK and you can buy it by following this link: MandagsTalk x Copenhagen Photo Festival.
In connection with the 10-year anniversary of Copenhagen Photo Festival, we’re proud to present a collaboration with Folkehuset Absalon. We will host a MondayTalk revolving around photography. We’re lucky enough to be visited by German photographer Jana Sophia Nolle, who works with photography in connection to societal contrasts, structures of power and consumer culture. She portrays conflicts revolving around homeless people in San Francisco in a new and original way, and she discusses how this portrayal affects the way we debate homelessness.
Furthermore she seeks to shed a light on consumer culture and power in Western structures of society.
With her on stage, she’ll have mag.scient.soc and postdoc in Anthropology, Perle Møhl, who, with her knowledge on visual anthropology, society and digital media, can give us a more theoretical, methodical and social sciency outlook on the talk.
Together, we’ll explore photography, materiality, originality, visuality and photographic theory in order to extend our thoughts on what the photograph actually is and has the power to do in a societal debate.
If you want to learn more about this and learn how photographs affect our everyday lives, then this talk is something for you.
The talk will be held in English.
