COPENHAGEN PHOTO FESTIVAL 2021 IS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS!
Do you wanna be part of the biggest photography festival in the Nordics?
The Copenhagen Photo Festival is looking for Creative, Community-minded, and Fun-seeking volunteers to join a passionate group of Photography lovers.
You have the chance to become part of our exciting team of 100 productive souls at this year’s Copenhagen Photo Festival. Whether it is at the ticket stand, building up the festival, doing video and photo content or making sure our guests are having a good time, our volunteers have an important role to play during the 11 days of the festival.
The festival will adapt itself this year due to COVID-19. We are working hard to make the Copenhagen Photo Festival a safe place for both our volunteers and visitors. We will make sure to respect social distancing and government regulations to ensure the safety of everybody. We’re looking for volunteers who are as excited as we are to work flexibly.
The Copenhagen Photo Festival is a community of passionate people and we want our volunteers to feel involved and comfortable as much as possible. We will provide the necessary protective means and will regularly get in touch with the volunteers during the whole festival.
If you like photography, events and busy days in an international environment, then Copenhagen Photo Festival is the place for you! If this sounds like something you could be interested in, then join us on June 3-13 2021 in Copenhagen.
Depending on your wishes and experience, you can take on different types of tasks before and during the festival. There’s something here for everyone! Please note that volunteers are required to contribute a minimum of three (3) shifts before or during the Festival.
You must be +18 y/o to be a volunteer.
Read more about the different tasks below.
In exchange for your free time, you will receive a festival wristband for you and +2 more festival tickets that you can share with your family or friends, that gives you access to all exhibitions in the festival centre. Moreover we will reward you with some festival merchandise and small treats and a certificate of attendance (upon request). Moreover, you will network, gain organisational competencies and meet various people from the photography industry. We will take good care of you during the days of the festival and organise team building activities.
The heart of the festival is beating at Refshaleoen where the centre is the vibrant hub for all our programme activities, events and exhibitions. To create a great experience for our guests and participants and make all work well around the clock, we count on our outgoing exhibition assistants.
The team of exhibition assistants move around to guide the guests, keep an eye on the exhibitions, help the exhibitors and make sure that the place is in shape and ready every day to host our activities. If you are service-minded, at ease with big crowds and like making things happen, this is a place for you.
We believe that good events create a good experience for both our guests and programme participants. We need your attitude and your smile to make our events happen during the 11 days of the festival.
The most important thing is to be service-minded and flexible. Along with your co-volunteers you will make sure that the event runs smoothly, the place is clean and tidy, and whatever help is needed at a given moment. Through volunteering for this position you will gain a lot of experience and organizing social events will feel like a piece of cake after that!
We’re looking for talented photographers and videographers to join us at the Copenhagen Photo Festival. We would like our media team to volunteer their time and skills to creatively convey the festival’s atmosphere through images and videos. Your images will be used across our social media platforms and for next year’s promotion materials.
If photography or videography is your thing, profession, area of study or you just love capturing unforgettable moments and have a great eye for composition, we would love for you to join. This position is the opportunity to build your portfolio of events and see your photographs credited on our website and social media channels.
Info Desk/Tickets Sales
We host and welcome a big number of international and local guests, exhibitors and programme participants, and we want them to feel welcomed, well-informed and ready for their experience at the Festival Centre, both indoors and outdoors. We run two info desks/ticket-sales-points, where a small and dedicated team of volunteers will be welcoming and guiding the audience, selling tickets.
It is your responsibility to inform the visitors about the festival and its exhibitions and guide them in the right direction. If you like having responsibility and you’re an outgoing and service-minded person, we’re looking for you. Good English skills are a must, since you’ll be dealing with our international guests. Speaking Danish is a big plus.
Our valuable production assistants are helping with all festival preparations in the Photo Centre at Refshaleøen. We need strong and reliable people who are not afraid of lifting or other physical tasks to help build up the festival center beforehand and take it down afterwards.
If you are interested in event/venue production and want to learn what’s needed to make an 11-day international festival, this is a shift for you.
Do you want to be a Super CPFVolunteer?
As a Super CPFVolunteer, you can take assignments that require more responsibilities and you will play a more important role in our team. You can combine at least six (6) shifts according to your availability and preferences.
You will get the chance to be an active part of the festival, gain more work experience, develop your skills and gain a recommendation letter (upon request) on top of the other rewards.
If one of these tasks sounds good to you, we can’t wait to meet and work with you!
We will come back to you and start the arrangements. The detailed planning will follow at the beginning of May.

Copenhagen Photo Festival is one of Europe’s leading festivals of national and international contemporary photography. We build bridges between fine art photography and documentary photography through our three programme pillars Framing Identity, Framing Society and Framing Vision. For the third year, you can experience the Copenhagen Photo Festival at the trendy and vibrant Refshaleøen, where the festival will be presenting indoor and outdoor exhibitions and events.
Each year 250-300 photographers from all over the world participate in the festival’s programme through either our festival centre at Refshaleøen, the home of 5-10 curated solo exhibitions and The Censored Exhibition, or in collaboration with one of the 45 exhibition sites in our CPF Official Partners programme. In total, we have more than 55 exhibitions throughout Copenhagen and Southern Sweden, and we’re proud to welcome 55,000 visitors at the annual event in June.
