Where is home? Observing the disappearing past. Ăn quả nhớ kẻ trồng cây or When eating a fruit, remember who planted the tree. | Kiên Hoàng Lê (VN/GER)
The project of Kiên Hoàng Lê consists of a personal story about leaving Vietnam with his parents at the age of 5 and travelling to the former German Democratic Republic during the US American war in Vietnam. The project is a study of history, cultural change, and diaspora. Being the Vietnamese in Germany and the German in Vietnam, the exhibition originates from Kiên’s personal search for his Vietnamese identity in his mother country.
He won VG-Bildkunst, 2015, and was shortlisted for HENRI NANNEN AWARD, 2014. He has exhibited in Germany as well as abroad where he was a part of the group exhibition »Making Heimat«, Architecture Biennale, Venice, 2016, among others.
