Copenhagen Photo Festival – Tuesday June 11th

Shot by phone

We all know the tale about Instagram that was bought by Facebook for a very large amount of money. What the tale tells us is something about app photography; it is huge and a lot of people are using it. In a documentation of our everyday lives, we can all be photographers; the media is democratic and readily accessible, it is immediate and collective. You find everyone on there; from prominent recognized photographers to budding talented students, from your aunt who depicts her herb garden to your little brother documenting his skating buddies. We find the media and the use of effects intriguing, which prompted the creation of two exhibitions shot by phone.

Photo City – Bryghuset, Ny Carlsberg Vej, 1799 København V. June 6th – June 16th
An exhibition by photographers using Smart Phone app filters. The use of Smart Phone filters in combination with Social Media has made the act of taking photos a new daily ritual and a way of sharing life and situations with people in a Social Network. Since there is no question that this is part of the future of photography, it will be highlighted, investigated and discussed as a new aspect for the world of photography.
The photographs were submitted to Copenhagen Photo Festival and curated by a jury composed of Kristine Kern, head of Fotografisk Center, Rasmus Ranum, co-founder of Copenhagen Photo Festival, photographer Per Folkver and fine-art photographer Jacob Fuglsang Mikkelsen. The exhibition is arranged in collaboration with Fotografisk Center, DJ:Fotograferne and Jacob Fuglsang Mikkelsen.
